Jackie Lyon and Mike Pinhorn wanted to move further south from their previous home near Luton.  Mike was born and bred in Hampshire so they looked in a wide area, from Petersfield to the coast, before settling on the perfect setting of Southbourne.

The couple chose a new 4 bedroom house at Priors Orchard by award winning housebuilder, Seaward Properties, who are based in nearby Chichester.

"We didn't want anywhere remote" said Jackie.  "It was important for us to be near facilities and culture as well as the coast, so we had quite a tall order !"  Although Mike and Jackie looked at homes across a wide area in their search, nothing really clicked.  They had, however, seen some new developments during their search and the idea of brand new properties took hold.

"We came down to Emsworth for a week where we rented a flat through Henry Adams Holiday Cottages," said Jackie.  "We thought we'd have a day out to go to Bosham which we both love and when we drove through Southbourne, which we knew from holidays years ago, we spotted the new homes at Priors Orchard and dropped in to have a look around.

We couldn't believe that everything just fell into place.  There's a real sense of space that we hadn't seen anywhere else.  The quality of the finishes was also better, right down to the doors and the switches, all the details had been looked after.  Mike and I couldn't believe we'd found somewhere by the coast which ticked all our boxes".

Unfortunately there wasn't a finished example available for them to look around one of the 4 bedroom houses in The Goodwood design which had caught their eye.  So the sales negotiator at Priors Orchard, Caroline, arranged for them to look around a house belonging to one of the earlier buyers at Priors Orchard, who kindly agreed to show Mike and Jackie around their home.

"We committed that day" said Jackie, "and we now let people come and look around our home.  It does help as you do need to see what your house would be like. It's so nice and spacious and all the rooms have good proportions.  We have a kitchen/diner/snug across the back of the house and a separate sitting room at the front.  It's nice to have the two reception rooms".

Once their new home was completed, Jackie and Mike started settling in to their new home and exploring the area. 

"Sometimes we take the bus into Chichester or Portsmouth and we've walked into Emsworth in the evening where there are some nice places to eat and then you don't have to worry about driving home.  Southbourne itself has everything you need day to day, including a farm shop, doctors and a Co-op.

"We wanted to be by the coast and because we already knew the area, we know a nice little circular walk across the road, down a path and then you're at Chichester harbour.  We both like bird watching so this is like having a nature reserve on our doorstep."
