Managing director of Phoenix Interior Design, Susan White, said, “We’ve selected some fresh ice-cream colours and a trendy ‘boat shed’ style for this elegant 4 bedroom townhouse so you’ll find soft pinks, baby blues and lots of natural textures.

“The layout has been cleverly designed with family life in mind, especially the open plan kitchen which has a wonderful vaulted ceiling, so we’ve furnished this area with a table laid for eight so visitors can imagine a family living here and entertaining friends. There are also double doors out to the garden for an indoor/outdoor feel which we’ve enhanced with lots of plants for a feng shui balance. 

“The interior design is filled with unusual elements, such as an amazing Ikat wallpaper from the US, and an unusual sideboard with hammered bronze handles. Glass bell light fittings contrast with the soft natural oak, shells and natural stone sculptures which are a little wink to the nature along the south coast and South Downs.

“One of my favourite rooms is the master bedroom which has an ivory floor to ceiling headboard with lighting and hand stitched linen from The White Company. We’ve given one of the children’s bedrooms a skateboarding theme, which ties in with the skate park located on the development, with lots of accessories here are sourced from Europe for a chic, Scandi style.”

Apartment turns heads

There are just 20 elegant one and two bedroom apartments at Sonning House, the centrepiece at the heart of Bersted Park, so Berkeley Homes selected the acclaimed interior designers at Alexander James Interior Design for their new two bedroom show apartment here.

“The main inspiration for the scheme was a blend of ‘country village’ style and outdoor living so we set out to create a modern country look with some classic nods,” said Caroline Rogers, interior designer at AJI. 

“The neutral palette is warm and welcoming with soft browns and greys set off with a navy blue accent colour for artwork and accessories for a timeless and rather grown-up impression. 

“Personally I’m especially proud of the living room as I love the silver-grey geometric rug and the collage of artwork in Bedroom 2 is very effective. Overall the whole is balanced and inviting so I do hope lots of visitors enjoy not only the interior style but the apartment itself which has been beautifully designed by Berkeley Homes.”

Sonning House combines contemporary style within a traditional architecture which echoes the Arts & Crafts movement and is surrounded by the outstanding landscaping for which Berkeley Homes have become known.
