Downsizers’ dream comes true at The Gables

The thought of downsizing may be challenging for some but for Peter and Audrey Clow, it’s been a pleasure.

“We were spending all our time trying to keep on top of everything in our old family home which meant we never had time to do all the other things we’d like to do,” said Audrey and Peter, who have recently moved in to their new apartment by Seaward Homes at The Gables in Fishbourne. “Where we lived before, we had a big bungalow with a huge garden to look after. We have time for each other now.

Mr and Mrs Clow decided the time was right to move from their home of 43 years in Warwickshire to be closer to family in West Sussex.

“We wanted to make the move now while we’re able to enjoy it. It was still a big decision though, as we’re both in our 80s, but it couldn’t have worked out any better. Our ideal was to find somewhere a little smaller near our daughter who lives in Itchenor, and our grandsons.”

“We had no qualms about leaving our other property,” said Audrey. “I like to think I’m quite a practical person and we were ready to move on. We didn’t even look back as we drove away. As soon as we arrived at The Gables, we felt at home. There’s room for our daughter too when she comes to visit.

“We liked everything we saw about The Gables, the location in a lovely village, everything we may need including nearby bus routes and a train station for when we’re no longer driving.

“We’ve got a wonderful rapport with everyone who’s helped us along the way, especially Martin, Caroline and Francesca at Henry Adams. They kept us posted and we could always call them as and when we wanted to ask any questions, so it all went very smoothly.”
