First time buyers head home to Priors Orchard, Southbourne

Josh Henderson and his partner, Beth Yeoman, were renting an apartment in central Chichester and enjoying all that the city had to offer.  That is, until they decided to buy their first home together, when they opted to move out of the city centre to a brand new house next to an orchard and just a 10 minute walk to the shoreline.

Josh and Beth had met as students at Chichester University and liked the area so much that they wanted to stay locally "We were really happy in Chichester but soon started honing in on Southbourne and Emsworth areas to make our permanent home" said Josh.  "We looked around at a few developments in the area until we came across Priors Orchard in Southbourne and then everything fell into place.

"We thought we'd come along and have a look as some of the houses were in our budget.  After we saw the Show Home, the sales adviser, Caroline, showed us to a house which was almost finished, in the same design as the one we were interested in buying".  Beth and Josh quickly reserved their new home back in March, just days before the first lockdown.  "We signed our reservation but then we were both furloughed.  Luckily nothing changed financially and Laura at Henry Adams phoned to reassure us that everything would go ahead as normal, but was likely to be just a bit slower which was nice of her and took some of the pressure off".

After moving into their new home at Priors Orchard in October, they were able to arrange deliveries of furniture and used a local company for the curtains and blinds which were installed shortly afterwards transforming the house into a home.  "One thing we've both been amazed at is the amount of storage space, such as having built in wardrobes" said Josh.  "The room sizes are great and the kitchen is fully integrated with all the appliances already fitted.  It was really handy that the house was fully carpeted for when we moved in and it's all really soft underfoot".

One of the key attractions at Priors Orchard is the architectural design and layout of the development by Chichester based house builder, Seaward Homes.  A wide range of external finishes to the houses, which are set back from the roads, has created an attractive street scene around a central open green approached by winding footpaths.

Josh and Beth liked the development immediately "Outside, it doesn't have that new development feel.  It already looks established, with the central green and there's even a community orchard.  All those little touches help to make it already feel like home".

Priors Orchard is just 10 minutes' walk from Chichester Harbour where there's a lovely coastal walk and five minutes down the road is a farm shop which has quickly become Josh and Beth's favourite local store.  "Seaward Homes had given us a hamper filled with items from the farm shop so we went to visit and it's unbelievably good!"

The last few homes remaining in the current phase at Priors Orchard include detached 3 bedroom homes from £399,950 and 4 bedroom detached homes from £689,950.  Time is running out to take advantage of the Stamp Duty Holiday which ends in March and could result in savings of up to £15,000.
